Saving Us From The Nothing

An evil force known as The Nothing has poisoned the music world.  Unoriginal, plagiarized tunes seep out of speakers everywhere.  This constant flow of wearisome sounds rots the brains of listeners.  One band has the creative talent to save the minds of music lovers.  They ravage The Nothing by combining skill, imagination, and ingenuity to create truly new music.  Who is this amazing band not afraid to play a different tune?  Who has the power to destroy The Nothing and redefine music?  The answer, Rockbiter!

Rockbiter takes listeners on a quest out of musical norms, placing them in an audio world of wonder.  They deliver a versatile collection of sounds fusing many types of music and rock, causing them to ultimately be genre-less.  Their self-created style is a whirlwind of innovative guitar, melodic bass, and polished drums.  Their music is well-written with a dramatic tone, sharply contrasting with plastic sound of mainstream.  The unique talents of Matt Abernathy, Joey Smith, and Jonathan Mackey unite to create the somethings of Rockbiter.  They are real people with real lives; and are not a part of anyone’s world.

rockbiterRockbiter started as a concept band that played intricate quest songs about medieval stories and fighting dragons.  Although their music has evolved since then, their dynamic style still takes listeners on an inspirational journey.  Rockbiter’s songs are novels of their own, possessing well defined intros, instrumental highlights, climaxes, and conclusions.  Joey’s voice deepened by experience sings non-poetic lyrics about living and leaving stuff behind.  This trio composes songs so detailed and complex that Einstein himself would listen in admiration.

In their song Spiraling Vortex, Rockbiter marches listeners through a musical novel, where emotions aren’t forced through lyrics, rather felt through sound.  It begins with steady thumps of drums, fast-picked riffs, and a melodic bass.  Hearts begin to beat faster as a sense of anxiety rings out of the amps.  There is a slight pause with a deep beat before bassist, Matt, leads the band into pure rock with a rhythmic shift.  He is the muse playing modestly to the side.  His bass strings wrap around the minds of once lost listeners and pulls them to a state of musical wonderment.  Matt consistently provides a complimenting harmonic outline.  He makes eye contact with drummer, Mackey, and it becomes obvious that the already energized drums are about to go wild.  Mackey’s fast, yet graceful drumming leads listeners into the middle of a single-man drum circle.  He fashionably plays every beat with a fresh, innovative style.  Meanwhile, Joey poetically plays the guitar, highlighting riffs that tickle the inner selves of listeners.  As the song intensifies, Joey darts into a dramatic, mega fast, amplified guitar solo.  Guitar enthusiasts are left bewildered after hearing one of Joey’s original, beautifully written solos.  Rockbiter continues playing and the tension builds.  There is a spectacular explosion at the end, and the audience is left dumbfounded.

After listening to an entire series of songs, listeners are empowered and they are able to enter the Nothing as something.    Each part of any given song has importance, and every note has a purpose.  The men behind Rockbiter possess inner conductors, causing them to not consciously think about the music as they play.  Sounds flow out of them naturally as their minds wander to magical worlds, taking listeners with them.  Check out Rockbiter at www.myspace.com/joeyandmackey to awaken the mind and let the music speak for itself.
