Juliette's new life
Juliette Lewis has made a name for herself as an actress with roles in "Cape Fear," "What's Eating Gilbert Grape," and more but indie music fans know her best for her band Juliette and the Licks. Lewis has traded in the Licks and re-emerges on the music scene with her new band, The New Romantiques.
Leaving behind a successful run with the Licks and popular songs like "You're Speaking My Language" and "Hot Kiss" we can't help but wonder if Lewis knows what she's doing. Venturing out with The New Romantiques is a risky venture and based upon what's posted to the band's Myspace we can't hear the difference between the Licks and the Romantiques. Lewis posted in a recent blog that the band had broken up in spirit long before they even started thinking about a third album. It's a shame.
With The New Romantiques, however, Lewis says she breaking off on a new adventure and the band is more about the music than being a band. If that's the case, the world could be in for a special treat with this endeavor. With five years under her belt since she burst onto the music scene, Lewis has grown as has her music. We wonder if the move from The Licks to the New Romantiques will further propel her. Though we can't help but feel that Lewis is a bit full of herself. Stop by the band's Myspace and we bet you'll be as equally frustrated as we are that you can't listen to full songs, only clips.
We wish the band the best of luck and look forward to what they have to offer. Hopefully in time full songs will be posted so that we can better judge the new project.
